It's that time of year again! Where every highschool boy is trying to figure out a somewhat creative way to ask his date to the prom, while the girls are mainly concerned about their dress, hair, shoes, and makeup! As Prom quickly approaches, and you ladies are anxiously working out details for your big night, here are some classic prom makeup trends to keep in mind!
SMOKEY EYES
This eye look is modern yet classic. You can really never go wrong with a smokey eye when in evening wear! The smokey eye is sexy, and gives a lot of emphasis to the eyes. When doing this kind of look, choosing rich mattes is very important. The wrong shade of black or gray can leave your eyes looking too ashy which can leave room for unflattering prom photos! Essentially, a perfect smokey eye can be paired with any kind of lip. If you prefer drama go for a bold matte red, or if you want a more subtle look, nude glossy lips go great as well!
WINGED LINER
Winged liner is another great way to go when you want to add a little bit of glam to liven up your eyes! This type of eyeliner goes especially well with a highlighted tear duct and soft browns on the outer crease. Any type of gel liner would be best because of its staying power and color. And don't be afraid to extend the wing a little longer then usual, it's totally appropriate for the occasion! If you wanted to take it one step even further, you could even do a double wing liner to spice things up a bit! After all, it is prom...YOLO! :)
INNOCENT PINKS
A soft pink lip goes well with just about any type of eyes. Whether with smokey or lightly frosted eyelids, the right shade of pink can soften your look for a more romantic feel. A few pinks I would recommend for this particular look are:
-MAC's Angel
-MAC's Creme cup
-Nars' Roman Holiday
-Sephora's Rouge
SHIMMER, GLITTER, AND HIGHLIGHT, OH MY.
You are going to want to make sure you are absolutely glowing for prom! While glitter seems like the most obvious thing to go for, DON'T! Being dipped in fairy dust is not the the direction you want to head in for a night like this. It's way too often that I see girls headed to prom with their entire bodies sprayed with glitter spray, while they are wearing glittery eyeshadow and glittery lipgloss. While adding a little bit of glitter to your eyeshadow can really vamp up a look, you do not want to go overboard with it! In my opinion, a little bit of highlight is all you need. Adding some highlight to the top of your cheek bones, center of your nose, and on your cupids bow will leave you glowing without specs of glitter all over you and your date for the night! MAC's Mineralized Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle is everything for this!
