Ombré Lips

Ombré Lips

The ombré trend didn't just stop with hair, the ombré lip has been making a bold statement recently! This lip look is so fun and easy to create, and can be done with any set of shades that compliment each other well. However, for a true and vibrant ombré lip, blending is key.

5 easy steps for ombré lips

Step 1: Lip Prep  Using a lip balm/vaseline moisturize lips and allow 1-2 minutes to let it set in.
Step 2: Conceal  Apply a dab of concealer or foundation to the lips. This will help mute out the natural color of  your lips, allowing for a truer hue of the lipstick.
Step 3: Line & Blot   Choose a lipliner in a shade that is different from the lipstick you are going to use. Using darker lipliner shades will create a bolder contrast between the two colors. Next, blot your lips together to smudge the color (this will make blending easier)
Step 4: Color In   Fill in your lips with the lipstick of your choice that is different from your liner color. Again, using a lighter color will make the look bolder because of the contrast. Blot your lips again, and if needed, use a lip brush or even your fingertip to blend the liner with your lipstick color.
Step 5: Clean Up    Using a small concealer brush, clean up the outer edges of your lips with a concealer that matches that region of your face. This little step can really make your lips pop!

Remember, be creative and bold. Don't forget to be you and do what you like! Take a risk, do an ombré lip, and smile... just make sure there's no lipstick on your teeth :)

Below is another way you can create an ombré effect on your lips. This look is a bit vampy and has so much edge. To create this look all you need is a super dark lipliner, or even a black eyeliner.
MAC's lipliner in Nightmoth is perfect for this lip.
